Story Notes:
Many of the TMNT Adventures comic series by Archie Comics were influenced by social themes of the time, such as the environment. This issue features a story that touches on the practice of trophy hunting, and poaching.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the break out multi-media powerhouse of the 1990’s. Originally a black and white self-published indie comic from 1984, by their 10th issue the Turtles already had a cartoon and toy series in full swing. By 1990, Ninja Turtles was a household name with a hit movie. Their popularity titled, “Turtle-Mania”, continued into the mid-90’s.
The comic featured above is from their cartoon based comic book series produced by Archie Comics from 1988. The series was produced in full color and departed from the cartoon adaptions by introducing new characters and stories appropriate for all ages.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures began as a 4 part miniseries and was immediately followed by a regular series, which ran up to 72 issues and over 8 annuals ending in 1995.
