About the Artist:
Rob Liefeld b. 1967 is known for co-creating the characters Cable, with writer Louise Simonson, and Deadpool, with writer Fabian Nicieza. In the early 1990s, Liefeld gained popularity due to his unique artstyle on Marvel Comics’ The New Mutants and later X-Force. Deadpool has been featured in numerous comics series and countless tie-ins.
In 1992, Rob Liefeld along with Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee and others left Marvel to form Image Comics. The first book published by Image Comics was Liefeld’s Youngblood #1 which sold over a million copies. Liefeld created the anti-hero, Chapel, who was a tie-in to Todd McFarlane’s Spawn comics as the original killer in Spawn’s origin story.
Deadpool was first featured in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. Ryan Reynolds reprised the character in his solo debut Deadpool, which was produced by Fox in 2016 and released to fanfare and commercial success. A sequel Deadpool II featured Liefelds other Marvel creations, Cable and Domino. The Deadpool film franchise is the only Fox property to survive the Disney acquisition intact and is slated for third installment.
