This is the first appearance of Gambit preceding his appearance in Uncanny X-Men #266 by a month.
In this issue the future villain Ahab returns to destroy the X-Men. The time-traveller comes from Phoenix II’s timeline and is followed by the adult Franklin Richards. The Fantastic Four, New Mutants and Cable, and X-Factor join the X-Men in the battle. The story also reconciles Jean Grey and her future daughter Rachel Summers (Phoenix II).
