Story Notes: In the wake of Ned Leeds’s death, Peter Parker is left depressed that his longtime friend was also the villainous Hobgoblin! The crime boss, The Rose, also attends Leeds’s funeral and decides to wrap up some loose ends. Roderick Kingsley (secretly the real Hobgoblin) is targeted by the Rose. After the failed assassination attempt, the Rose encounters Hobgoblin II (Jason Macendale). Meanwhile, Wolverine tracks down a sulking Peter Parker and teaches him a lesson about being a hero. This issue continues from Amazing Spiderman # 289 and the Spiderman vs Wolverine One Shot.

Item Notes: Batman # 428 features the Death of Jason Todd (Robin II).
Jason Todd, the second Robin, was controversial from his inception as a replacement for Dick Grayson (the first Robin). Created by Gerry Conway for Batman #357, Todd was a mirror image of Dick Grayson with the exception that he had blonde hair that he dyed when appearing as Robin.
After Crisis on Infinite Earths, Jason Todd's origin was dramatically altered to re-envision him as street kid. Jason Todd hereafter was depicted as questioning, petulant and had a tendency to be more extreme than Batman, even killing in one instance.
In the Death In The Family storyline Jason Todd as Robin had been beaten by the Joker. The end of the comic featured a 1-900 telephone number to allow fans to determine his fate.
While an alternate ending was created to show Robin had lived, the fan vote determined the fate of Jason Todd to die. Batman #428 revealed the outcome of the fan vote.
